The National Museum Wales showcases Andy Wheddon's handiwork and gentle abuse of insects.
As part of the ‘Respond’ project at the NMW, Andy created an insect soundscape using only recordings of Leafhopper insects as his source material. For the piece, entitled simply ‘Leafhoppers’, Andy took original recordings made by the museum’s Entomology department and processed, stretched and twisted them with heavy dsp, and then some. Our resident artist, Andy has been involved with audio and art installations for a number of years and has created some rather wacky ideas that have to be seen, and heard, to be believed.
