Cousins Rich Bevan & Josh Doherty, based in Edinburgh and London respectively, first appeared in 1999 on the notorious Skam Records (who also famously discovered another family pair Boards of Canada). Heading up the first part of their SMAK series the duo quickly established themselves as more than just your standard musical outfit. With 3 critically hailed albums on their own imprint Seed Records, lauded live shows across Europe and the UK, and their heavy associations in the London electronic music scene - the pair instigated the London Electrics consortium, and are often involved in the organisation of many of the big electronic music events in London. They hosted the legendary tube station parties in the disused underground station at Aldwych, London, which saw live performances from Aphex Twin to Goldfrapp, Funkstorung to Richard X, and now run the SOVIET parties in a converted cinema.
Musically Posthuman have never been afraid to experiment with genres: one EP delved into an electronica-thrash metal arena, various compilation tracks have spanned from sparse ambience to bass-driven techno, and their latest album 'The Peoples Republic' was hailed by DJ Mag as "joining the dots between early Autechre and Mogwai". Their signature sound prevails though - primal, melancholic melodies, layers upon layers, with heavy, hip-hop infused rhythms.
